Overview
A leading AI organization is seeking attorneys and legal professionals for a contract-based project aimed at enhancing the legal reasoning capabilities of AI systems in the areas of energy and real property law. This role involves reviewing, annotating, and refining legal content from documents such as leases, easements, conveyances, and interconnection agreements to improve the accuracy and clarity of AI-generated legal analysis.
Responsibilities
- Review and annotate energy and real-property legal documents following detailed written instructions
- Provide thorough, citation-backed determinations, including document references (page and verbatim text) supporting each conclusion, accompanied by clear natural-language explanations of legal reasoning
- Apply consistent legal judgment across multiple documents and identify ambiguities for senior review
- For more senior contributors: quality-check the work of other reviewers and assist in resolving disagreements
- Collaborate with researchers to evaluate and enhance AI model performance
Requirements
- JD from an ABA-accredited US law school, or experience as a paralegal or land/title professional
- Active US bar license in good standing (required for attorney-level roles)
- Experience in real estate, energy, land use, or related transactional practice
- Ability to independently read and interpret leases, easements, deeds, and similar legal instruments
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to locate and cite primary legal authority
- Familiarity with energy projects (oil and gas, solar, wind, transmission) or wholesale power markets (e.g., RTOs/ISOs) is a plus
Levels
The engagement is hiring at three levels, with calibration during screening:
- Tier 1: Specialist / Law Clerk
- Tier 2: Associate / Senior Associate
- Tier 3: Partner
Compensation & Contract Terms
- Hourly rate between $50 and $150 for US-based professionals, depending on experience
- Must be based in the United States
- A project-provided Chromebook will be shipped to participants for the work
