Overview

An organization is seeking an in-house attorney with expertise in labor and employment law to provide legal advice and support on employment-related issues and disputes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and practical legal advice to HR and business leaders on a wide range of employment law matters, including hiring, background checks, disability accommodations, leaves of absence, compensation, performance management, disciplinary actions, terminations, workforce reductions, investigations, policies, training, outsourcing, and contractor engagement.
  • Deliver legal updates, guidance, and training on applicable federal and state regulations and statutes.
  • Monitor developments in federal and state labor and employment laws and maintain current knowledge.
  • Draft and review employment agreements, separation agreements, notices, policies, and other employment-related documents.
  • Oversee employment-related certifications required by clients and government agencies.
  • Manage employment disputes and litigation, including evaluating liability exposure, developing strategies, overseeing outside counsel, coordinating witness interviews and document production, and attending depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials as necessary.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
  • Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in employment law counseling and litigation.
  • Prior experience as in-house counsel is preferred.
  • Expertise in U.S. federal and state employment laws and regulations.
  • Experience with India employment laws and regulations is a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate and provide proactive, practical legal guidance.
  • Experience handling administrative charges and/or employment litigation matters.
  • Strong legal analysis and research skills.
  • Ability to anticipate and assess potential legal risks.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to multitask.
  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $129,200.00 - $184,500.00 per year, with base pay varying based on geographic region, internal equity, knowledge, skills, and experience.

Location

  • This is a 100% remote position within the United States.
  • Travel up to 15% annually may be required.
