Overview

This full-time position is for a Bankruptcy Attorney licensed in South Carolina to manage a substantive caseload within a value-driven legal firm specializing in default and creditors' rights law.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a statewide bankruptcy caseload efficiently from start to finish
  • Prepare and file motions, pleadings, Proofs of Claim, Payment Change Notices, and other essential documents
  • Conduct Chapter 13 Plan Reviews and draft objections to plans when necessary
  • Attend court hearings, both virtual and in-person
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the firm, clients, courts, trustees, and outside counsel for assigned cases
  • Handle time-sensitive escalations and maintain accurate client system updates

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school
  • Active South Carolina Bar Membership in good standing
  • Preferred: 3+ years of bankruptcy experience including Chapter 7, Chapter 11, Chapter 13, and plan confirmation exposure; however, candidates with the right aptitude and work ethic will be considered and trained
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment with strong organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining complex legal issues clearly to diverse audiences
  • Willingness and ability to travel as needed for court appearances
  • Commitment to ethical standards and client confidentiality

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in real estate, mortgage, or commercial litigation
  • Knowledge of FDCPA, RESPA, or TILA
  • Background in foreclosure law (training available if not)

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $95,000 - $125,000 annually, commensurate with experience
