Overview

This role provides legal representation for clients in bankruptcy matters.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with and support clients and staff in a professional and diligent manner.
  • Prepare motions, objections, claims, and orders related to clients’ bankruptcy matters.
  • Defend litigated and contested matters in bankruptcy cases, including adversary complaints and appeals.
  • Attend court hearings associated with clients’ bankruptcy matters.
  • Represent clients in mortgage mediation matters associated with bankruptcy cases.
  • Manage an assigned caseload to meet goals and client expectations.
  • Handle escalated and time-sensitive matters as needed.
  • Maintain a close, positive working relationship with other attorneys and staff to ensure smooth, productive workflow and support quality control.
  • Maintain a positive, professional relationship with clients to ensure their needs are met; assist with other duties and special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor of Law with Georgia Bar License.
  • Licensed to practice law in jurisdiction and physically resides in jurisdiction.
  • One to Ten years of Bankruptcy experience in Chapter 7 and 13 cases, preferably representing lenders and creditors, including attendance at court hearings.
  • Preference for experience with litigation, Chapter 11, and adversary cases.
  • Multiple jurisdiction admission is a plus.
  • Must be admitted to the Georgia Bar and in good standing.
  • Should be admitted to practice in the Federal District Courts in Georgia.
  • Must physically reside in Georgia, preferably in the Atlanta area.
  • While this position is fully remote, candidate will be expected to regularly appear in Federal Bankruptcy Court in Georgia.
  • Must possess a good understanding of Chapter 7 and 13 Bankruptcy procedures and laws.
  • Litigation experience, preferably handling adversary complaints and appeals in Bankruptcy Court.
  • Must be familiar with court procedures and practice.
  • Must be proficient with numbers and basic accounting.
  • Must be knowledgeable of bankruptcy law proceedings.
