Overview

A Wilmington, DE law office affiliated with a nationally recognized firm of over 250 attorneys is seeking a Business Litigation Associate Attorney to join its expanding litigation practice. This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated business and civil litigation matters in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with experienced litigators.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in all phases of complex civil litigation from inception through resolution
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, and discovery responses
  • Conduct legal research and prepare persuasive written advocacy
  • Manage and coordinate discovery, including e-discovery
  • Participate in depositions, court appearances, mediations, hearings, and other litigation proceedings
  • Communicate directly with clients, providing strategic guidance and regular case updates
  • Collaborate with attorneys across offices and practice groups on complex litigation matters
  • Handle sophisticated and high-exposure matters with professionalism and attention to detail

Practice Areas

The office handles a diverse range of sophisticated litigation matters, including:

  • Directors & Officers (D&O) liability
  • Insurance coverage litigation
  • Employment litigation
  • Professional liability defense
  • Civil rights litigation
  • Real estate disputes
  • Commercial and contract litigation
  • Complex business disputes

Qualifications

  • Admission to practice in Delaware is required
  • Minimum of 3 years of civil litigation experience, preferably in defense litigation, commercial litigation, or complex business disputes
  • Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
  • Experience managing discovery and e-discovery processes
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced litigation environment
  • Strong organizational, case management, and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Admission to the Maryland and/or Washington, D.C. Bar
  • Commercial litigation experience
  • Experience handling depositions, motion practice, mediations, and court appearances
  • Commercial bankruptcy experience is a plus
