Overview

A Michigan-based law firm is seeking a California-licensed attorney with significant California state and federal court litigation experience for a contract engagement on a completely remote basis. The attorney will support a litigation team and should be able to handle assignments with minimal supervision.

This engagement is expected to last approximately six months. Workload is anticipated to begin at approximately 10–15 hours per week, increasing to 30–40 hours per week from mid-September through October in connection with trial preparation, trial, and post-trial activities.

The firm is particularly interested in experience in federal court, including support for a matter pending in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California involving issues at the intersection of land use and constitutional law.

Responsibilities

  • Handle civil litigation case workup across all phases, including:
    • Written discovery
    • Motion practice
    • Hearings
    • Trial preparation
  • Provide support to the litigation team, capable of handling assignments with minimal supervision
  • Assist with matters pending in federal court, including work related to issues at the intersection of land use and constitutional law in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California

Requirements

  • 6+ years of legal experience in litigation
  • Licensed in California
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Capability and experience to work independently and with a team
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Outstanding references

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant experience in federal court litigation

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annualized compensation (full-time basis): $235,000 to $280,000
  • Pay is based on work experience, qualifications, credentials, and location
  • Salary is for a W2 employment arrangement, with eligibility for full benefits when working in roles for 20 hours per week, including a Qualified 401k plan

  • CLE and Professional Expense stipend for attorneys

  • Completely remote
  • Anywhere in the United States, but must be California licensed
