Overview
A boutique healthcare law firm is seeking a part-time attorney to support its transactional and corporate practice. This remote position requires the attorney to be actively barred in California and reside in Illinois. The role is ideal for a mid-career attorney with at least four years of post-bar, non-litigation experience, including those returning to practice after a career break. The position offers flexible scheduling with approximately 20 hours per week and no billable hour requirement.
Responsibilities
- Draft and review transactional and corporate documents such as contracts, independent contractor agreements, and entity formation materials
- Provide transactional and contract support on California matters, applying California-specific law as needed
- Review and negotiate contract terms on behalf of clients or established practices hiring new personnel
- Support attorneys on business and corporate structuring matters for small- to mid-sized healthcare practices and management services organizations
- Deliver clear, accurate, client-ready work products within agreed timelines
- Engage in continuing education relevant to transactional and corporate practice
Requirements
Professional
- Active California bar membership with a minimum of four years of post-bar experience
- Residency in Illinois
- Experience in contract preparation and negotiation
- Background in regulatory and transactional work (non-litigation), with a focus on transactional, corporate, or contracts law
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to produce error-free work under tight deadlines
Interpersonal
- Ability to communicate complex topics clearly and effectively to clients and colleagues
- Friendly demeanor suited to a supportive, non-competitive work environment
- Ability to work independently and manage a part-time workload with minimal supervision
Compensation & Benefits
- Part-time salary range: $62,500 to $68,500, commensurate with schedule
- Benefits package appropriate for part-time employment, including paid time off, paid holidays, and 401(k) eligibility
- Option to work remotely or from the firm’s Evanston office
