Overview
An experienced California-licensed Labor & Employment (PAGA) Attorney is sought to support a well-regarded AmLaw 200 firm on a fully remote, ongoing engagement basis. The position offers flexible hours with options for full-time or part-time work, depending on the candidate's preference.
Responsibilities
- Handle or support wage and hour class actions, PAGA representative actions, and single-plaintiff employment litigation matters
- Draft and argue motions, oppositions, and related briefing in California state and federal courts
- Manage written discovery, including propounding and responding to discovery requests and preparing discovery strategy
- Take and defend depositions; assist with deposition preparation and witness examination
- Support mediation preparation and participate in mediations and settlement discussions
- Assist with trial preparation, including exhibit organization, witness preparation, and pretrial briefing; opportunities for direct trial participation depending on experience and engagement scope
- Advise on case strategy and risk; collaborate directly with supervising partners and, where appropriate, client teams
- Handle routine court appearances and hearings as needed
Requirements
- Licensed attorney in California, in good standing
- Minimum of 4 years of California labor and employment litigation experience, including meaningful exposure to wage and hour class actions, PAGA/representative actions, and single-plaintiff matters
- Strong understanding of the full litigation lifecycle from case assessment and pleadings through discovery, motion practice, mediation, and trial preparation
- Excellent legal writing skills with the ability to handle complex, multi-party matters efficiently and with high quality
- Deposition experience (taking and/or defending) preferred; comfort with routine court appearances and hearings is a plus
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment, managing multiple concurrent assignments with minimal oversight
- Client-ready and capable of representing the firm's interests directly with employer clients when required
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school

Compensation & Benefits
- Annualized pay ranges from $180,000 to $240,000 on a full-time basis. Contract pay is determined by factors including experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and candidate preference.
- W2 employment status with eligibility for full benefits when working 20 or more hours per week, including a qualified 401(k) plan
