Overview
This role is for a Fractional Chief Legal Officer providing strategic legal oversight and expertise across diverse organizations. The position suits experienced legal executives who have managed corporate legal affairs, advised on complex transactions, navigated regulatory environments, and built effective legal frameworks. It offers flexibility to apply legal leadership across multiple high-impact companies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive legal strategies aligned with business goals, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.
- Provide expert legal counsel to C-suite executives and boards on corporate governance, contracts, intellectual property, employment law, and regulatory compliance.
- Oversee and manage legal risks including litigation, investigations, and disputes.
- Structure, draft, and negotiate critical business agreements and partnerships.
- Ensure regulatory compliance across all relevant jurisdictions.
- Advise on mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate transactions.
- Develop and implement internal legal policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Manage relationships with external legal counsel and professional service providers.
- Act as an executive thought partner to founders or CEOs on legal strategy, risk management, and ethical business practices.
Requirements
- Proven experience in senior legal leadership roles such as Chief Legal Officer, General Counsel, or executive legal consultant.
- Demonstrated success managing complex legal issues and providing strategic advice in corporate or fast-growth environments.
- Deep expertise in corporate law, commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, and risk management.
- Strong understanding of legal principles related to intellectual property, data privacy, employment law, and other business functions.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills, comfortable engaging with C-suite, boards, and external stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with a meticulous, analytical, and solutions-oriented approach.
- Active bar membership in relevant jurisdictions is typically required.
- Prior experience as a fractional, interim, or consulting legal executive is a strong plus.
