Overview
A confidential organization is seeking a Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel to lead its legal function and serve as the chief legal advisor to the CEO and board. This leadership role involves owning the legal strategy, risk management, and governance across all regions to protect the organization while supporting rapid growth.
Responsibilities
- Develop and own the enterprise legal strategy and function across all regions.
- Lead corporate governance, board matters, and regulatory filings.
- Identify, assess, and manage legal risks throughout the enterprise.
- Oversee contracts, transactions, and commercial legal matters.
- Manage litigation strategy and dispute resolution on an enterprise-wide basis.
- Advise the CEO and board on legal risks, strategy, and major decisions.
Requirements
- Minimum 18 years of legal leadership experience, including senior in-house or General Counsel roles.
- Proven track record of leading enterprise legal functions at scale.
- Deep expertise in corporate governance and board-level counsel.
- Experience building and leading global legal organizations.
- Demonstrated sound judgment balancing legal risk with business speed and growth.
- Strong executive presence with board- and investor-ready communication skills.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree required; active bar membership mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience managing legal matters across multiple jurisdictions.
- Background in leading legal strategy through mergers and acquisitions or capital markets transactions.
- Experience as General Counsel or senior counsel at a public company.
- Legal leadership experience within the relevant industry sectors.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $550,000 to $725,000, commensurate with skills, experience, and interview performance.
