Claims Attorney Sr- Litigated Claims

Overview

This role involves representing the organization on claims-related legal matters, providing legal advice and counsel to claims personnel, and managing litigation files and costs. The position requires developing, preparing, and implementing claims litigation strategies for both first party property and liability litigation.

Responsibilities

• Assign cases to outside counsel and evaluate their performance
• Provide legal advice and training to claims personnel to ensure consistent file handling
• Control litigation costs and claim severity
• Respond to subpoenas, court orders, and other legal requests in compliance with applicable laws and company policies
• Attend pertinent trials as needed (not as attorney of record)
• Provide oversight and supervision to outside counsel on claims-related litigation

Requirements

• Passed the Bar exam
• Typically requires 7+ years of relevant experience or a combination of related experience, education, and training

Work Location and Schedule

• Candidates living within 50 miles of Bloomington, Illinois will follow a hybrid work schedule
• Candidates living more than 50 miles from Bloomington will work remotely

Compensation & Benefits

• Base pay range: $110,000 - $151,250 (actual salary based on skills, qualifications, and experience)
• Eligible for a Short-Term Incentive plan in addition to base salary
