Overview

A legal professional is sought for the role of Claims Counsel to manage and resolve claims related to title insurance policies. This position involves applying legal expertise within the real estate and title insurance sector to protect the organization and its policyholders.

Responsibilities

  • Investigate and evaluate the merits of title insurance claims
  • Select and collaborate with outside counsel to resolve and defend claims
  • Negotiate claim settlements effectively and efficiently
  • Prepare articles for publication and participate in legal seminars for members and agents
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, including the Code of Ethics and Conduct
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the Claims team and the organization

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law
  • 3–5 years of legal experience, focusing on real estate and/or litigation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and collaborate with legal professionals
  • Leadership mindset with the ability to influence and motivate others

Experience in title insurance underwriting is a plus.
