Overview
A financial infrastructure platform serving millions of businesses worldwide is seeking an exceptional transactional lawyer to join their commercial legal team supporting the fast-growing business in the Americas. This role involves working with a global technology company that builds infrastructure for online commerce, handling billions of transactions annually, and innovating in areas such as cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, and agentic commerce.
Responsibilities
- Lead negotiations for complex and strategic agreements supporting the Americas Sales team.
- Advise on a wide range of commercial and legal issues, including launching new products and supporting international expansions.
- Collaborate closely with Product Legal to bring new products and features to market.
- Contribute to building out the commercial legal infrastructure to scale efficiently with rapid growth, including drafting and maintaining agreements and playbooks.
- Lead and participate in projects to improve internal processes and leverage AI tools to optimize workflows and collaboration.
- Partner with global teams across sales, operations, product, tax, risk, and others.
- Drive scaled support and efficiency within the global Commercial Legal team.
- Develop and deliver training and resources to assist the Sales team in selling products.
- Serve as a point of escalation for outside counsel.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in-house or in a technology practice group at a top law firm.
- Qualified with good standing membership in at least one US state bar with a JD degree or foreign equivalent.
- Intellectually curious and creative problem solver, comfortable with complex and evolving products and industry.
- Self-starter with a strong sense of ownership and proactive approach.
- Clear and concise communicator, able to distill key risks and explain complex issues simply.
- Natural collaborator capable of guiding cross-functional teams toward win-win solutions.
- Familiarity with legal issues and commercial risks related to hosted data and technology services.
- Team player willing to contribute to collective success.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in payment or fintech industries and knowledge of related regulatory issues.
- In-house experience advising high-growth companies.
- Working knowledge of large language model (LLM) tools.
- Experience improving legal processes using AI technology.
- Working knowledge of data protection laws such as CCPA, GDPR, and HIPAA.
