Overview
This role is for an experienced legal professional to serve as a key legal partner within a fast-growing personal finance platform company. The position is fully remote within the US and offers a competitive salary range of $250,000 to $300,000, with equity and bonus opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Understand the company’s business model, key relationships, product offerings, and history.
- Learn how the company builds, markets, and scales products and the role of legal in these processes.
- Familiarize yourself with relevant regulatory and compliance frameworks.
- Align with the company’s working style, goals, mission, and values.
- Collaborate effectively with team members across departments.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant commercial and corporate law experience.
- Strong preference for candidates with in-house legal experience and experience negotiating with large corporations.
- Admission to a state bar or eligibility to register as in-house counsel.
- Demonstrated ability to simplify complex legal concepts and communicate clearly to non-legal audiences.
- Curiosity and resourcefulness in researching and resolving legal questions using various tools and networks.
- Interest or experience in using generative AI tools and enthusiasm for the future of legal technology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Contract Lifecycle Management tools such as IronClad or Zip.
- Experience negotiating with both Fortune 500 companies and startups.
- Knowledge of privacy laws, including GLBA and state privacy regulations.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $250,000 to $300,000, with final offers based on experience and expertise.
