Overview
This role is a 6-month engagement for an experienced commercial & government contracts attorney supporting the North America Legal Team of a global sustainability and environmental risk consulting firm. The position is fully remote.
Responsibilities
Commercial Contracting (60%)
- Provide legal support and advise on large scale, complex, and strategically significant engineering, environmental, infrastructure, remediation, energy, and sustainability projects
- Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on commercial agreements, including:
- Framework agreements
- Environmental and engineering consulting agreements
- Professional services agreements
- Subcontracts and teaming agreements
- Non-disclosure agreements
- Vendor and procurement contracts
- Software and technology agreements
- Identify, assess, and manage contractual and legal risks
- Partner closely with project teams to develop commercially practical contracting solutions that support business growth while appropriately managing risk
- Support contract governance processes, approvals, and policy compliance
U.S. Government Contracts (40%)
- Provide legal advice and support relating to U.S. federal, state and local government contracts
- Review, negotiate, and advise on:
- Prime contracts
- Subcontracts
- Teaming agreements
- GSA Schedule matters
- Cooperative agreements
- Task orders and delivery orders
- Advise business stakeholders on government contracting requirements, including FAR and agency-specific regulations, flow-down provisions, procurement integrity requirements, small business subcontracting obligations, ethics and compliance requirements, and claims and disputes processes
- Support audits, investigations, compliance reviews, and government contracting risk assessments
- Partner with government contracting teams and subject matter experts to maintain robust compliance practices
Requirements
- 5+ years of in-house experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts
- 3-5 years of recent experience advising on U.S. government contracts and procurement requirements
- Experience supporting engineering, environmental consulting, infrastructure, energy, construction-adjacent or other technically complex project work
- Licensed to practice and in good standing in at least one U.S. state bar
- Excellent academic credentials from a U.S. accredited law school
- Strong knowledge of risk allocation principles in professional services contracts
- Strong commercial judgment and pragmatic problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and negotiation skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work independently within a fast-paced global environment
- Must be located in Eastern or Central time zones

Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: $190,000 - $240,000 when calculated on a full-time basis.
- Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors including work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference (each candidate’s pay rate affects the client bill rate which can affect the candidate’s competitiveness for the position).
