Overview

A growing commercial real estate services team is seeking a Commercial Underwriting Counsel to provide legal and underwriting support for real estate title insurance commitments and policies. This role involves applying legal expertise and risk analysis to commercial real estate transactions, collaborating with internal teams and customers to deliver solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide underwriting support, counsel, and authorization related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies
  • Utilize underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits to underwrite title insurance issuance
  • Guide company personnel in performing real estate settlement services
  • Issue underwriting standards and guidelines following established company processes

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of title underwriting experience; commercial experience preferred
  • Law degree required
  • Licensed to practice law and in good standing in the state of employment
  • Familiarity with real estate law
  • Strong understanding of real estate title and settlement processes
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen
  • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to provide alternative solutions and communicate tactfully
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and build relationships internally and externally
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and follow up in a timely manner
  • Ability to think abstractly and develop creative solutions

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $97,700.00 - $130,300.00 annually
  • Pay is based on factors including knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements, and geographic location
