Overview

A financial advisory practice is seeking a Commercial Underwriting Counsel to join their team. This role involves providing underwriting support and legal counsel related to the issuance of real estate title insurance commitments and policies, primarily in the commercial real estate sector.

Responsibilities

  • Provide underwriting support, counsel, and authorization to company personnel and customers regarding real estate title insurance commitments and policies
  • Utilize underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits to underwrite title insurance issuance
  • Guide company personnel in performing real estate settlement services
  • Issue underwriting standards and guidelines following established company processes

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of title underwriting experience; commercial experience preferred
  • Law degree required
  • Licensed to practice law and admitted to practice in the state of employment
  • Good standing with the licensing authority
  • Familiarity with real estate law
  • Strong understanding of real estate title and settlement processes
  • Strong analytical skills and business acumen
  • Excellent negotiation skills with the ability to provide alternative solutions and communicate difficult information tactfully
  • Ability to collaborate effectively and build relationships internally and externally
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and follow up in a timely manner
  • Ability to think abstractly and develop creative solutions

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $97,700.00 - $130,300.00 annually
  • Pay is based on factors including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, business requirements, and geographic location
