Overview
A financial advisory practice is seeking a Commercial Underwriting Counsel to provide legal and underwriting support related to commercial real estate transactions. This role involves applying expertise in real estate law and risk analysis to support the issuance of title insurance commitments and policies, as well as guiding real estate settlement services.
The position offers a hybrid work schedule for candidates located in Tampa, FL, and remote work options for qualified candidates elsewhere in the U.S.
Responsibilities
- Provide underwriting support, legal counsel, and authorization related to title insurance commitments and policies
- Apply underwriting standards and guidelines within delegated authority limits
- Guide company personnel on real estate settlement services
- Issue underwriting standards and guidelines following established processes
- Communicate underwriting and settlement service information to the team
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (Law Degree) required
- Active license to practice law in good standing in the state of employment
- 5 to 7 years of experience underwriting title insurance or comparable law firm experience, preferably with commercial real estate focus
- Strong knowledge of real estate law, including federal and state regulations
- Solid understanding of real estate title and settlement processes
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and business skills
- Ability to provide alternative solutions and communicate difficult information tactfully
- Proven ability to collaborate, make decisions, and build relationships internally and externally
- Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills with ability to multitask, prioritize, and follow up promptly
- Creative problem-solving abilities
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $88,900 to $118,500 annually
- Pay is based on factors including knowledge, skills, experience, business needs, and location
