Commercial/IP Attorney (Commercial IP Transactions)

Overview

A rapidly growing advanced materials company is seeking a Commercial IP/Generalist Attorney to join its lean legal team during a high-growth phase. The organization operates with startup speed and manages a diverse and evolving product suite that requires handling a wide range of commercial agreements.

This role suits a commercially minded attorney who thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and has strong intellectual property instincts applied to everyday contracting. The attorney will support NDAs, distribution and formation agreements, university collaborations, evaluation agreements, and other commercial matters where protecting core IP is critical.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements including NDAs, distribution agreements, formation agreements, university collaborations, and evaluation agreements
• Provide practical, business-aligned legal advice that protects the organization without over-complicating deals
• Collaborate with non-legal stakeholders by delivering clear, actionable guidance
• Support the legal team across various areas as needed, leveraging relevant knowledge and expertise

Requirements

• Strong intellectual property knowledge and experience in commercial contracting
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous, and evolving environments
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear guidance to non-legal personnel
• Adaptable, low ego, and willing to assist across multiple legal areas

Position Details

• Hours: 30-40 hours per week
• Initial duration: 3+ months
• Hourly rate: $105 to $115 (based on qualifications, skillset, experience, and project requirements)
