Overview
This role is for a Compliance Attorney contractor working remotely within the United States. The position involves applying legal expertise to support the development of AI systems focused on U.S. compliance and regulatory matters. No prior experience with AI is required; the emphasis is on strong legal knowledge and analytical skills.
Responsibilities
- Analyze, review, and annotate legal and compliance documents to aid AI system development.
- Draft detailed legal explanations and responses addressing complex compliance and regulatory issues.
- Review AI-generated legal content for accuracy, sound legal reasoning, logical consistency, and compliance with U.S. standards.
- Collaborate remotely with cross-functional teams to provide expertise on compliance and regulatory topics.
- Develop scenario-based legal questions and answers reflecting current laws, regulations, and industry practices.
- Identify legal ambiguities, regulatory risks, and potential issues in AI outputs, offering recommendations for improvement.
- Provide feedback to enhance AI training processes and improve legal dataset quality.
Requirements
- Expertise in U.S. compliance law.
- Experience analyzing legal documents.
- Strong legal writing and drafting skills.
- Proficiency in regulatory research.
- Thorough knowledge of U.S. laws and compliance frameworks.

Preferred Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited U.S. law school.
- Active attorney license in good standing in the United States.
- 3 to 15 years of recent experience practicing compliance law in the U.S.
- Ability to clearly and accurately explain complex legal concepts.
- Current practice in U.S. compliance law.
- Judicial clerkship experience is preferred.
- Experience teaching law or legal writing at an accredited law school is a plus.
- Editorial experience with a law review or legal journal is highly valued.
