Overview

An established HR compliance organization is seeking an experienced Compliance Counsel to join their Legal Compliance team. This role involves providing legal guidance and support for compliance-related products and services, including employee handbook management, training content creation, and client advisory. The position offers the opportunity to work on challenging legal matters, contribute to product innovation, and engage with a broad HR and compliance audience.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and own the employee handbook service, including creating, reviewing, revising, and updating handbooks
  • Provide guidance to clients on workplace policies and conduct EEO policy and handbook reviews
  • Serve as the Legal Compliance subject matter expert (SME) for designated legal and compliance topics
  • Collaborate on course creation as an SME, including drafting and reviewing training scripts ranging from comprehensive online courses to microlearning content
  • Review pre-release course builds to identify necessary edits and errors
  • Prepare or review educational materials for sales teams regarding course content and compliance requirements
  • Draft and review marketing materials related to legal compliance, such as course pages and fact sheets
  • Provide compliance guidance to clients, prospective clients, and internal teams
  • Develop marketing content by drafting articles and preparing and presenting webinars on current legal topics relevant to HR and compliance

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent degree from an accredited law school
  • Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • Minimum of 4 years of practice experience in employment law or a related legal field, preferably with law firm or in-house experience
  • Broad knowledge of federal and state EEO and wage-and-hour laws
  • Experience drafting and reviewing compliant human resources policies
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with comfort presenting information internally and externally
  • Excellent presentation skills and comfort being on camera during meetings
  • Proven ability to manage time and workload effectively from a remote/home-based office

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual base salary range: $95,000 - $120,000

Location

Remote position with the ability to work from a home-based office.

Washington state applicants: Employees accrue 15 days of PTO in the first year and are eligible for 12 holidays annually.
