Overview
An opportunity is available for a Conflicts Attorney to join the Office of Legal Affairs. This role supports attorneys and business professionals across the firm to identify, analyze, and resolve conflicts of interest connected to:
- new business intake
- client engagements
- lateral hiring initiatives
Responsibilities include providing guidance on conflicts and ethics matters, and supporting preparation/review of ethical screens, conflict waivers, ethics-related disclosures, engagement letters, and Outside Counsel Guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze electronic information related to new engagements and new hires to identify, report, and address potential legal, business, and positional conflicts of interest.
- Conduct electronic research using Westlaw, Google, and other research tools to identify, eliminate, clarify, and resolve conflict and ethics-related issues.
- Analyze and resolve conflict of interest issues and provide meaningful, concise guidance to firm attorneys.
- Prepare, review, and/or analyze engagement letters, outside counsel guidelines, ethics-related disclosures, waivers, ethical screens, and disengagement letters.
- Analyze work of others in the Office of Legal Affairs and provide guidance on conflict of interest and ethics issues.
- Communicate extensively with firm attorneys, business professionals, General Counsel, and Assistant General Counsel – Conflicts to facilitate identification and resolution of conflict issues and other business issues.
- Assist in development of training and education programs for legal and non-legal staff regarding conflict of interest issues, client intake systems, and procedures.
- Close client and/or matter accounts according to firm policy or as requested.
Requirements
- JD degree and at least three years of legal experience in a law firm; active bar license in good standing strongly preferred.
- At least three years of experience conducting electronic research, with familiarity with Intapp conflicts and client intake software preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Outlook, and conflicts-related programs; prior experience with Aderant a plus.
- Working knowledge of the Rules of Professional Conduct and experience with legal ethics and conflicts issues in a law firm environment.
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, legal research, and writing skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to discuss and resolve conflicts and ethics issues effectively and diplomatically.
- Strong project management, organization, and prioritization skills, with the ability to work efficiently and independently on multiple projects with shifting priorities and tight deadlines.

Benefit offerings and eligibility vary by location and are subject to applicable plan terms and legal requirements.
Pay range estimates (annual):
- Applicants physically based in New York City or San Francisco: $165,000 - $195,000
- Applicants physically based in California, New Jersey or Washington DC: $150,000 - $180,000
- Applicants physically based in Colorado: $145,000 - $165,000
Actual pay will be determined based on skills, relevant experience, and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable employment laws.

This position may be based in California, Colorado, Indiana, Kentucky, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Washington DC, or West Virginia.
Preferred work schedule options include:
- 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. PST
- 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. MST
- 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. CST
- 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. EST or later
