Overview
An established law firm is seeking a Conflicts Staff Attorney to join their team in either the New York or Washington D.C. office. This role offers the flexibility to work fully remotely, provided the candidate resides within reasonable commuting distance of one of these offices.
Responsibilities
- Conduct and analyze conflicts database searches related to new matters for prospective and existing clients to identify potential conflict issues.
- Assist intake attorneys in resolving potential conflicts by liaising with firm attorneys responsible for prior matters.
- Identify conflicts of interest and assist in drafting waivers in accordance with applicable Rules of Professional Conduct.
- Participate in training sessions for attorneys and staff on conflict screening and new client/matter intake processes.
- Update training materials related to conflicts and new business intake.
- Perform special searches as needed, such as for new attorney relations or potential mergers, to identify conflict issues.
- Engage in special projects focused on new business intake best practices and risk management initiatives.
- Provide administrative support and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree required.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an attorney conducting conflict analysis, preferably within a large law firm.
- Demonstrated knowledge of conflict-of-interest rules under the Rules of Professional Conduct.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build relationships with attorneys to facilitate the conflicts analysis and approval process.
- Excellent attention to detail, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
- Customer service orientation with the ability to respond promptly to various inquiries.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Intapp Open or similar products is preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
New York Office:
- Annual salary range: $153,000 to $173,000, adjusted based on experience and other factors.
Washington D.C. Office:
- Annual salary range: $133,000 to $157,000, adjusted based on experience and other factors.
