Overview

A national law firm with multiple locations across the United States is seeking a Consumer Finance Litigation Associate with three to five years of relevant experience preferred. Candidates for any office location, including a virtual office option, will be considered; however, preference is given to those residing and licensed in California, Texas, Florida, or Ohio.

Responsibilities

  • Defend financial services companies in both state and federal courts.
  • Apply working knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA), the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), and other federal and state consumer protection statutes.
  • Represent mortgage servicers and/or originators in contested foreclosures, quiet title actions, title disputes, and related claims.
  • Collaborate primarily with attorneys in the Financial Services & Capital Markets business unit.

Requirements

  • Three to five years of relevant litigation experience.
  • Experience defending financial services companies in state and federal courts.
  • Working knowledge of FCRA, FDCPA, RESPA, and other consumer protection laws.
  • Experience with mortgage servicing and origination litigation matters.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Active bar license in the state corresponding with the office applied for, or commitment to obtain one promptly.
  • For virtual office applicants, licensure in the state of residence is required.
  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrated exceptional judgment and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Strong communication skills to articulate legal strategies and courses of action.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary ranges by location:
    • California, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington, and Washington, D.C.: $200,000 - $230,000
    • Minnesota and Vermont: $210,000 - $225,000
    • Other markets: Salaries vary based on market data.
  • Eligibility for Associate Performance Bonus and Client Development Bonus.

  • Multiple U.S. offices and a virtual office option.
  • Preference for candidates licensed and residing in California, Texas, Florida, or Ohio.
