Overview

A national law firm with multiple U.S. locations is seeking a Consumer Finance Litigation Senior Counsel with at least eight years of relevant experience. Candidates licensed and residing in California, Texas, Florida, or Ohio are strongly preferred, though applicants for any office or a virtual office position will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Defend financial services companies in state and federal courts
  • Apply working knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Debt Collections Practices Act (FDCPA), Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), and other federal and state consumer protection laws
  • Represent mortgage servicers and/or originators in contested foreclosures, quiet title actions, title disputes, and related claims
  • Collaborate primarily with attorneys in the Financial Services & Capital Markets business unit

Requirements

  • Minimum of eight years of relevant litigation experience
  • Experience defending financial services clients in state and federal courts
  • Working knowledge of FCRA, FDCPA, RESPA, and other consumer protection statutes
  • Experience with mortgage servicing and origination litigation preferred
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Active bar license in the state of the office applied for, or commitment to obtain one promptly
  • For virtual office applicants, active bar license in the state of residence
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well under pressure
  • Exceptional judgment and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Ability to articulate legal strategies and courses of action effectively

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range for positions in California, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, and Washington, D.C.: $185,000 - $230,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience
  • Salaries in other markets vary based on market data

  • Multiple U.S. offices available
  • Virtual office option available (applicants must be licensed in their state of residence)
  • Strong preference for candidates licensed and residing in California, Texas, Florida, or Ohio
