Overview
A rapidly growing AI company specializing in voice AI for call centers is seeking a Contract Attorney to support its expanding legal operations. The organization has scaled significantly in recent years and aims to build a modern customer experience platform powered by AI.
Responsibilities
- Review, redline, and negotiate customer agreements including Business Associate Agreements (BAAs), Data Processing Agreements (DPAs), Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), Master Service Agreements (MSAs), and Statements of Work (SOWs)
- Respond promptly and accurately to customer-requested contract modifications
- Draft and maintain reusable contract templates for reseller agreements, partner agreements, and other commercial contracts
- Provide advice on data privacy terms and compliance with GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, and Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs)
- Collaborate with the Compliance Officer to ensure contract language aligns with SOC 2, ISO 27001, and other compliance standards
- Support deal velocity by quickly turning around contract redlines and participating in calls with customer legal teams as needed
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience handling commercial contracts, SaaS agreements, or technology transactions, either in-house or at a law firm
- Strong working knowledge of data privacy frameworks including GDPR, SCCs, and CCPA/CPRA
- Proven hands-on experience redlining BAAs, DPAs, NDAs, MSAs, and SOWs at volume
- Familiarity with compliance concepts such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001 as they relate to contract terms
- Demonstrated ability to draft new agreement templates from scratch
- Excellent written communication skills in English with attention to precision and clarity
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced startup environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working at a SaaS or AI company
- Familiarity with HIPAA and healthcare data requirements
- Experience supporting channel or reseller partnership agreements
- Understanding of voice, telephony, or real-time AI products
- Experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) to accelerate legal workflows
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly rate: $35-$40 per hour (1099 contractor)
- Long-term, ongoing contract role
- Mix of asynchronous contract work and scheduled calls with customer legal teams
Location & Schedule
- Must be available during US Pacific Time business hours (9 AM - 6 PM PT)
