Overview

The Office of Research is seeking a Contracting Officer to manage research-related agreements. This role involves drafting, negotiating, and facilitating the execution of agreements such as Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs), Confidentiality Agreements (CDAs), Data Use Agreements (DUAs), and other assigned contracts.

Responsibilities

  • Draft and facilitate timely negotiation and execution of research-related agreements.
  • Advise researchers on appropriate agreement types based on the activity and best practices.
  • Monitor agreement progress using defined metrics and tools, including turnaround time and time-to-execution.
  • Provide transparent and accurate reporting to stakeholders and recommend process improvements to increase contract execution efficiency.
  • Maintain integrity and accuracy of contract records and files in the university repository.
  • Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues, management, campus stakeholders, and contracting parties to ensure consistency in terms and approaches.
  • Perform other duties related to the successful execution of research agreements as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Four years of experience in a related area such as paralegal work, analyzing legal documents, administering programs, or grants.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Four years of paralegal or equivalent experience negotiating and managing research agreements.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.
