Overview
This is a full-time U.S. remote or hybrid position based in Fort Lauderdale.
The organization is seeking a hands-on Contracts Attorney to manage day-to-day contracting and support the General Counsel as the legal department expands. This role focuses on owning a high volume of agreements independently and improving the contracting process end-to-end.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the General Counsel (Counsel, Contracts & Legal Operations), you will:
- Own the full agreement lifecycle, including drafting, negotiating, and managing:
- Vendor agreements
- Technology/SaaS agreements
- Data-processing agreements
- Licensing agreements
- Provider/network agreements
- Consulting agreements
- Marketing agreements
- From intake through signature, repository, and renewal
- Advise on healthcare and insurance issues across the contract portfolio, including:
- HIPAA
- Business Associate Agreements
- Protected health information
- Privacy and data security requirements
- Manage risk escalation and support executive decisions by:
- Translating contract terms into business exposure
- Preparing risk analyses and Executive Summaries
- Routing matters to the appropriate reviewers and signers
- Build and continuously improve the contracting function by administering and enhancing:
- Intake and triage processes
- Templates
- Playbooks
- Dashboards
- Self-service tools
- To support compliant contracting
- Train stakeholders and report on performance by:
- Leading training on the Contract Review Management SOP
- Delivering monthly KPI reporting to the General Counsel covering contract, IP, and marketing review activity
- Coordinate cross-functionally with Finance, Procurement, Information Security, Privacy, Compliance, and HR; support IP and marketing review; and manage outside counsel when needed
Requirements
- J.D. from an accredited law school and active, good-standing bar membership (Florida Bar or eligibility for admission preferred)
- At least 3–5 years of progressively responsible legal experience, including substantial in-house responsibility for commercial contracts
- Demonstrated healthcare and/or insurance experience, including negotiating Business Associate Agreements and advising on HIPAA, privacy, and security requirements
- Strong track record of independently drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements and explaining risk to senior stakeholders
- Experience improving contract-review or lifecycle processes through AI, templates, playbooks, or workflow technology, including hands-on use of AI-enabled legal tools with disciplined validation
- Ability to work independently in a lean legal department supporting multiple business units
- Experience with CLM systems, DocuSign workflows, IP portfolio work, or marketing/insurance review is a plus
