Overview

This part-time attorney role involves dispute management and litigation support, along with regulatory, compliance, and day-to-day business counseling. The position is for an attorney licensed in Illinois with approximately 3–5 years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with litigation, pre-litigation disputes, and claims management.
  • Draft demand letters, settlement agreements, releases, and related correspondence.
  • Coordinate with and manage outside counsel.
  • Investigate and help resolve disputes involving customers, contractors, property owners, vendors, and other third parties.
  • Support regulatory, permitting, compliance, and government affairs matters.
  • Provide practical legal guidance to business and operational teams.
  • Conduct legal research and prepare concise guidance memoranda.
  • Develop policies, forms, and internal procedures.
  • Review routine commercial agreements and identify legal risks when needed.
  • Independently manage assigned matters, maintain organized files, track deadlines, and handle related administrative tasks without dedicated legal assistant support.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active Illinois law license in good standing.
  • Eligible to practice law in Illinois without restriction.
  • 3–5 years of legal experience preferred.
  • Litigation, dispute resolution, or claims management experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage legal matters with minimal supervision and without reliance on a legal assistant.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with telecommunications, construction, real estate, regulatory, municipal, or utility matters.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Job status: Exempt.
  • Flexible part-time schedule.
