Overview
A growing legal team supporting a global housing business is seeking a Corporate Counsel attorney. This role provides legal and regulatory support across a broad range of commercial and regulatory matters, with a focus on lending solutions including lender-placed insurance, insurance carrier data exchanges and integrations, and related products and services. The position involves commercial contracting, regulatory legal research, assessment of emerging legal issues, and strategic guidance to internal clients. The attorney will advise on legal matters impacting the lending solutions business to help drive growth and mitigate legal and regulatory risks.
This is a remote position with a strong preference for candidates located in the Atlanta, GA area. Exceptional candidates from other locations will also be considered.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts, including insurance carrier and client agreements
- Advise internal business teams on contractual obligations, risk management, and compliance related to commercial transactions
- Lead B2B negotiations to secure favorable terms while maintaining strong business relationships
- Collaborate cross-functionally with sales, compliance, risk management, procurement, finance, and operations to support business objectives
- Provide legal support for contract lifecycle management including amendments, renewals, and dispute resolution
- Stay current on relevant laws, regulations, and industry best practices affecting commercial transactions
- Embed within the business to understand business unit objectives and key profitability drivers
- Identify potential legal risks and impacts to existing businesses, new ventures, and products
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Active law license in good standing
- 2-4 years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal department providing counsel on business and contractual matters, ideally within insurance or technology industries
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills for complex commercial agreements
- Highly autonomous and self-motivated with sound judgment and ability to manage multiple priorities urgently
- Ability to understand business strategy and basic financial considerations
- Strong knowledge of B2B agreements, risk assessment, and operational impacts
- Ability to quickly evaluate complex legal and regulatory issues and recommend sound courses of action
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with ability to influence and advise at all organizational levels
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within the insurance industry
- Background drafting complex commercial agreements
- Experience litigating complex commercial disputes
Travel
- Ability to travel as necessary, up to 10%
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay range: $103,800.00 - $173,300.00
