Overview
This role involves providing legal, compliance, and risk management support within a fast-paced healthcare technology environment. The Corporate Counsel will offer practical guidance on HIPAA, security, financial, and privacy matters while independently managing cross-functional projects. The ideal candidate is collaborative, detail-oriented, solutions-focused, and demonstrates strong judgment and integrity.
Responsibilities
- Provide business-minded legal guidance related to privacy, secure payment and billing practices, information security, intellectual property, and procurement.
- Advise on a broad range of privacy and security frameworks, including HIPAA, CCPA/CPRA, and emerging state data privacy laws.
- Draft and review contracts supporting business development, operations, products, and services.
- Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams to conduct legal reviews of new software features, ensuring compliance by design.
- Proactively identify, mitigate, and manage legal and compliance risks.
- Support and guide compliance with applicable laws, regulatory requirements, and internal policies and procedures.
- Oversee responses to customer-related subpoena requests from government entities and customer/patient requests for personal and health information.
- Manage customer and vendor escalations and disputes to resolution.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of experience as in-house counsel for a software or technology company or at a national law firm.
- Ability to work effectively with employees and managers at all levels.
- Strong ability to balance legal risk with business objectives in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Proven analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience adopting AI-driven legal tools to improve productivity and manage high-volume contract review.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law in California or eligibility for Registered In-House Counsel status.

- Experience with legal matters in the healthcare industry or SaaS sector.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range for Zone 1 (National Average): $159,000 - $181,500 USD.
- Compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, role requirements, and geographic location.
