Overview
This role provides strategic legal support to business leadership across complex commercial transactions. The position is onsite with primary locations in Nashville, TN and Fremont, CA; remote arrangements may also be considered. The ideal candidate will bring deep commercial contracts experience, strong executive presence, and the ability to function as a hands-on legal generalist in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.
Responsibilities
- Partner with business unit leadership to provide practical legal advice and risk mitigation to support business outcomes
- Draft and negotiate commercial agreements and related ancillary agreements
- Provide authoritative legal guidance to the legal commercial team and other internal business teams; support and build strong internal relationships
- Collaborate on process improvements and help update internal playbooks and templates
- Manage internal SLAs and juggle competing priorities in a fast-moving environment
- Own specific legal projects and develop subject matter expertise for issues faced by the customer contracts team and internal business partners
- Review solicitations, develop response strategies, and draft legally focused sections
- Select and manage outside counsel when needed
- Support commercial contracts personnel with complex or risk-sensitive terms and conditions, including limiting liability, indemnification, and grounds for termination
- Participate in Legal Department discussions related to corporate-wide topics, policies, and procedures
- Contribute to Legal Department updates on changing laws and regulations and ongoing education
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school
- Licensed to practice law in the United States and active membership in at least one state bar
- Minimum of 6–8 years of legal experience (may include a combination of law firm and in-house legal roles)
- Experience advising executive clients on business and transactional matters (contracts, agreements, business strategy)
- Demonstrated leadership ability, preferably as counsel for a business segment of a technology-driven company
- Ability to operate as a hands-on legal generalist
- Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, complex organizational environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral)
- Ability to analyze complex issues and provide recommendations in an executive-ready manner
- Ability to develop strong client relationships while maintaining independence appropriate to a compliance function
Compensation & Benefits
- Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on factors including experience, skills, education, and other job-related reasons.
- For candidates located in California, the annual salary range for this position is $175,000.00 to $200,000.00.
- Compensation ranges for other locations, including Tennessee, may differ based on the applicable market.
