Overview
A legal team is seeking a commercially minded Corporate Counsel to support a global Supply Chain organization. This role involves partnering directly with senior leaders to manage over $20 billion in annual transactions and support a procurement function of approximately 750 employees. The Corporate Counsel – Supply Chain will serve as a trusted advisor on procurement and transactional matters across six sectors. While ideally based in Indianapolis, this position is remote.
Responsibilities
- Provide practical, risk-balanced legal advice to supply chain and procurement leaders on purchasing, commercial transactions, and supplier relationships
- Independently lead complex, high-volume legal matters including contract negotiations, dispute resolution, and project support
- Balance legal risk with operational needs to enable speed, efficiency, and consistency in business outcomes
- Strengthen procurement and commercial contracting practices by implementing best practices, providing training, and increasing standardization
- Translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable insights to support informed decision-making
- Proactively identify and mitigate risks while driving process improvements toward scalable, forward-looking operations
- Support development and execution of legal strategies aligned with supply chain and commercial priorities
- Mentor junior team members, collaborate with outside counsel, and contribute to initiatives enhancing overall legal support
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited institution
- Active license to practice law in home jurisdiction, in good standing
- 3–5 years of legal experience supporting Supply Chain and/or Procurement
- 5–10 years of overall legal experience, in-house and/or law firm
- Ability to build trust-based relationships and influence diverse stakeholders
- Strong communication skills tailored to varied audiences with persuasive, structured messaging
- Sound decision-making in complex, ambiguous environments
- Deep legal and commercial acumen with practical, risk-balanced guidance
- Professionalism in navigating complexity, conflict, and change
- Urgency and ownership in managing new opportunities and challenges
- Discipline in project, issue, and risk management with a focus on continuous improvement
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $138,000 to $230,000 annually (final offer based on qualifications and experience)
- Exempt, experienced-level position
- Remote work opportunity
