Overview

An established organization is seeking an experienced Corporate Counsel specializing in Labor & Employment to join their Legal Department. This remote position involves providing legal analysis and counsel on global labor and employment matters, supporting management and HR teams, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal analysis and counsel on labor and employment issues worldwide, including recruitment, hiring, discipline, reorganizations, training, company policies, employee handbooks, compensation, and benefits.
  • Assist with legal compliance initiatives such as policies, training, and processes related to employment and labor for the global workforce.
  • Draft, negotiate, and review documents related to senior executive employment and compensation, including benefits plan documents, change-in-control agreements, and employment offer letters.
  • Draft, negotiate, and review routine and complex HR-related contracts, including separation agreements.
  • Prepare and conduct training sessions for HR and business partners on labor and employment issues and best practices.
  • Provide counsel on employment disputes, including complaints filed with EEOC, NLRB, MCAD, and other agencies.
  • Recommend, advise, and enforce company policies to ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international employment laws and regulations (e.g., Affirmative Action, ADA, FLSA, FMLA, EEOC, MCAD, USERRA).
  • Manage outside counsel on employment litigation matters.
  • Review employment, labor, and benefit issues during acquisitions and divestitures, providing advice and risk assessments.
  • Serve as Legal Department representative on acquisition integration processes and Policy Management Committee as requested.
  • Provide legal counsel on employment-related lawsuits and assist in developing company policies on employment legal issues.
  • Monitor and analyze changes in employment laws and regulations, proactively advising management and recommending guidance.
  • Establish strong partnerships with HR and business teams to provide practical labor and employment advice.
  • Provide backup legal support for general corporate legal issues as needed.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) and Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent from an accredited law school.
  • Minimum of five years of related experience, preferably combining law firm and corporate settings.
  • Current license to practice law in any U.S. State Bar.
  • Strong knowledge of labor and employment statutes and regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual salary range: $180,000 to $210,000 USD, varying based on experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.

Location

  • This is a remote position with occasional domestic and international travel required.
