  • Develop and maintain playbooks for data sharing with partners and communities, ensuring purpose limitation and appropriate contractual protections.
  • Counsel on telemarketing laws including TCPA/TSR and state-specific overlays; support consent capture and management, revocation handling, do-not-call (DNC) list hygiene, caller ID rules, and contact window limits.
  • Maintain call-recording compliance guidance, disclosures, and evidence standards in collaboration with operations.
  • Apply generative AI policies and approval workflows to internal and customer-facing use cases, addressing disclosures, human handoff, data retention boundaries, and vendor terms.
  • Identify and mitigate issues related to bias, transparency, marketing claims, and training data use in AI applications.
  • Draft and negotiate commercial contracts, data processing agreements (DPAs), and technology/SaaS agreements incorporating privacy, security, and data use protections.
  • Build and maintain contract templates, fallback positions, and approval records.
  • Manage pre-litigation demands, subpoenas, consumer complaints, and regulatory inquiries, coordinating with outside counsel as needed.
  • Support private equity-style diligence requests, periodic audits, and board-level legal and compliance reporting.
  • Maintain concise, usable policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to privacy, outreach, telemarketing, call recording, data governance, advertising claims, and AI usage.
  • Deliver targeted training on relevant legal and compliance topics.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and update scripts, notices, contracts, and system controls accordingly.

Success Metrics (6–12 Months)

  • Timely legal reviews of launches and campaigns with clear guidance; consumer disclosures are consistent and easy to understand.
  • High confidence in verifiable consent and revocation handling; improvements in DNC and complaint trends; consistent delivery of recorded-call disclosures.
  • Documented and smoothly operating DSARs, data retention, and partner-sharing practices.
  • Contract templates and playbooks that reduce cycle times and improve deal quality.
  • Concise and useful legal and compliance updates provided to executives and the board.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active U.S. bar membership.
  • 2-3+ years of relevant experience in law firm and/or in-house roles handling privacy and data issues, telemarketing compliance (TCPA/TSR), advertising review, and commercial contracts.
  • Familiarity with state-by-state nuances and call-recording laws.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills for commercial contracting, SaaS/technology, marketing, and vendor agreements.
  • Ability to translate legal requirements into practical processes working collaboratively with product, data, marketing, and operations teams.
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills suitable for executive audiences.
  • Proactive, action-oriented approach suitable for a private equity-backed environment.
