Corporate Counsel: Technology and Product

Overview

A financial services technology organization is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join their product counsel legal team. This role involves providing legal guidance to product groups developing innovative fintech and digital banking solutions. The position supports the full product life cycle and requires collaboration across multiple departments to deliver practical legal solutions that advance business objectives.

This role can be performed remotely within the Central Time Zone in the US or on a hybrid basis from offices located in Lenexa, KS; Allen, TX; Springfield/Monett, MO; or Cedar Falls, IA.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel throughout the entire product life cycle, from ideation and development to launch, operation, and sunset.
• Integrate with product teams to offer legal, business, and strategic advice, anticipating challenges and creatively solving problems.
• Advise on issues related to technology, data privacy, consumer protection, contracts, and regulatory compliance.
• Identify matters outside your expertise and collaborate with other legal team members to resolve them.
• Apply a practical, solution-oriented approach to balance risk and business needs.
• Communicate complex legal concepts clearly to non-legal colleagues.
• Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of transactional documents including contracts, product terms, and end-user license agreements (EULAs).
• Support improvements to standard agreements, legal processes, and playbooks.
• Collaborate effectively as a team member and adapt to ambiguity.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate degree and admission to, and good standing with, a state bar.
• Minimum of 5 years of legal practice.
• Experience with technology product development or working within financial institutions and/or fintech.
• Ability to travel up to 10% for meetings, training, or professional conferences.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience specifically in fintech, technology, financial services, and/or payments.
• Strong judgment, interpersonal skills, and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Enjoy building client relationships and working closely with teams such as operations, engineering, finance, and sales.
• Self-starter with curiosity and ability to provide practical legal solutions in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to anticipate broader issues and future implications beyond immediate questions.

Compensation & Benefits

• Base salary range: $107,000 to $155,000, depending on experience and geographic location.
• Additional bonuses and benefits are included.

• Hybrid work option available at offices in Lenexa, KS; Allen, TX; Springfield/Monett, MO; or Cedar Falls, IA.
