Overview
An expanding legal team is seeking an in-house technology attorney with at least five years of relevant experience. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This role focuses on drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial and partnership agreements, assessing risks, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret a variety of technology and commercial contracts, including SaaS agreements, partner agreements, and vendor contracts
- Advise sales and partnership teams on legal risks, implications, and opportunities related to commercial structures
- Apply knowledge of intellectual property, data use, privacy, and labor and employment law
- Develop and maintain template agreements, playbooks, training materials, and operational guidance
- Collaborate with sales operations, product, finance, marketing, field operations, regulatory, and engineering teams to align contract terms with organizational objectives
- Establish processes to ensure compliance with contractual commitments and provide practical legal advice to internal teams
- Define and implement best practices to scale the legal department's workflow and processes
- Support ad-hoc legal matters as needed
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
- Minimum of five years of relevant legal experience supporting in-house early to mid-stage technology companies; energy industry experience is strongly preferred but not required
- Extensive experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex agreements, especially SaaS, strategic partnership, and product agreements
- Strong problem-solving, innovation, collaboration skills, and business acumen
- Ability to independently manage a diverse and complex workload, prioritize tasks, and anticipate issues
- Excellent drafting skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to perform effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, managing multiple deadlines
- Experience with Google Drive, Salesforce, Adobe PDF, Ironclad, and DocuSign is preferred but not required
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $140,000 to $160,000, commensurate with experience
- Annual bonus of 10-15%
