Overview
A legal team is seeking a talented attorney to serve as Counsel, supporting employment and privacy law functions. This role is suited for a recently qualified lawyer with early career experience who wants to develop expertise in both employment and privacy law within a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day legal advice on employment law matters such as hiring, discipline, performance management, terminations, and workplace policies
- Monitor and support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; update internal guidance accordingly
- Assist in drafting and maintaining employee handbooks and workplace policies
- Provide advice on privacy laws and regulations including HIPAA, FERPA, GLBA, CAN-SPAM, GDPR, PIPEDA, CCPA, and other relevant laws and industry requirements
- Respond to user and customer requests, complaints, or queries related to privacy and data protection practices
- Assist in drafting and maintaining privacy-related policies and contractual terms
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments affecting privacy, security, and artificial intelligence; update internal guidance accordingly
- Support and communicate with business units including Human Resources and Product teams
- Occasionally assist with commercial contracts as needed
- Collaborate with other members of the legal department
Requirements
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials
- Licensed to practice law and in good standing with at least one state bar
- 0-3 years of post-qualification experience; some exposure to employment or privacy law preferred
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate legal exposure and manage risk effectively
- Experience with process improvement and project management
Compensation & Benefits
- Starting base salary range: $101,900 to $132,800, with potential variation based on qualifications, market value, and other factors
