Overview
This role supports the legal department operations, with a primary focus on contract drafting, review, and negotiation. The position involves independent management of a contracts workload, strong legal writing, advanced analytical ability, and the ability to provide clear, well-reasoned legal guidance.
Responsibilities
- Review, draft, and redline contracts across the organization, including master services agreements, statements of work, work orders, change orders, vendor agreements, and non-disclosure agreements.
- Independently manage routine contract requests from intake through execution, using sound judgment and escalating complex or non-standard issues as appropriate.
- Conduct independent legal research to support contract positions, identify potential risks, and propose practical solutions aligned with business priorities and risk management practices.
- Prepare contract summaries, risk assessments, and negotiation talking points.
- Work with business stakeholders at various levels to gather requirements, explain contract terms, and facilitate timely contract execution.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Qualifications
- Strong legal writing and drafting skills, with the ability to produce clear, precise, and well-organized contracts and legal correspondence.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple contract matters simultaneously with minimal supervision.
- Strong analytical thinking and independent problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify legal issues, research solutions, and apply sound judgment.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills, particularly in tracking contract status and maintaining accurate records.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
- Proficiency with contract management tools and databases.
Education & Experience
- Graduate of an accredited law school and barred in one or more United States jurisdictions.
- Three to five years’ experience in a corporate legal department, or equivalent experience in a law firm focused on legal generalist duties including contract drafting and negotiation.
- Direct experience in financial services and technology-related transactions preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Active law license (bar admission) in at least one United States jurisdiction required.

- Problems and issues are general and may require understanding of broader issues, but typically are not complex.
- May require familiarity with the financial/mortgage industry (or job-specific industry).
- Problems are typically solved by drawing from prior experiences and applying analysis.
