A leading organization in the Finance & Insurance sector is seeking a Counsel Commercial (Institutional Legal) to join their team. This role involves delivering legal outcomes for customers and stakeholders, collaborating cross-functionally, and taking ownership of key priorities. Location
- Remote (U.S. based candidates only; no visa sponsorship available)
Compensation
- Annual salary range: $183,855 – $216,300
Responsibilities
- Negotiate tailored agreements with strategic partners in finance and digital currency
- Provide comprehensive legal counsel throughout the product life cycle for prime brokerage and custody products
- Stay informed on legal and regulatory developments related to digital currency and blockchain technology
- Lead complex cross-functional collaboration efforts for institutional products
- Work closely with teams to resolve issues and expedite deal closures
- Develop commercial processes that support rapid business strategies
- Proactively identify and address business challenges to drive impact
Qualifications
- Licensed attorney with at least 5 years of experience in financial services or legal support for financial institutions
- Strong negotiation skills for complex financial agreements
- Proven experience in commercial and transactional legal work
- Interest and knowledge in digital currency and blockchain technology
- Experience leading cross-functional global teams
- Familiarity with U.S., EU, and UK financial regulatory regimes
- Ability to challenge the status quo with creativity and analytical rigor
Desired Skills and Experience
- Legal expertise in financial services regulations
- Negotiation skills for financial agreements such as prime brokerage and derivatives
- Understanding of digital currency and blockchain technology
- Experience in financial services project management
- Knowledge of bankruptcy rules and regulations
- Familiarity with U.S., EU, or UK regulatory frameworks
- Experience with fintech development tools (e.g., payment processing APIs, custodial services)
- Knowledge of risk management technologies used in compliance environments
- Familiarity with trading platforms and custody solutions for institutional clients
- Experience handling cross-border legal issues related to international finance
