Overview

A leading organization in the healthcare sector is seeking a Counsel to provide business-aligned legal guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management. This role involves partnering with leadership, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex legal issues into practical recommendations that support responsible execution, improve decision-making, and foster sustainable growth within a healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

Develop a deep understanding of internal clients' business and operational goals
Collaborate with team members to provide legal advice aligned with business objectives
Advise Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) division leadership on legal matters and compliance
Draft commercial PBM contracts for health plan and employer clients
Identify business and legal risks and propose balanced solutions

Requirements

Minimum of 5 years of transactional or complex contracting experience in a healthcare or law firm setting
At least 2 years of healthcare law experience, with knowledge of HIPAA, Medicare, Medicaid, and the False Claims Act
Admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state
Ability to travel up to 5%
Undergraduate degree and Juris Doctor (JD) required
Must be based in the United States; remote work available
No visa sponsorship available

Preferred Skills and Experience

Familiarity with the Federal Anti-Kickback Statute
Strong contract negotiation and complex contract drafting skills
Expertise in healthcare law and compliance frameworks
Proficient in legal research tools, case management software, and contract management systems
Excellent oral communication skills
Experience with regulatory analysis tools
