Overview

A healthcare industry leader is seeking a Counsel specializing in Employment Law to provide business-aligned legal guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management. This role involves partnering with leadership, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex legal issues into practical recommendations that support responsible execution, improve decision-making, and foster sustainable growth within a healthcare environment.

Location: Remote (U.S. based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available)

Compensation: $132,700 – $221,100 annually

Responsibilities

  • Counsel HR and management on ADA and religious accommodation requests
  • Support compliance and administration of state leave programs
  • Provide legal guidance on leaves of absence and company leave policies
  • Advise on employee relations matters including performance management and conflict resolution
  • Investigate legal claims and respond to inquiries from government agencies
  • Manage outside counsel for assigned matters, ensuring alignment with organizational strategy
  • Monitor and interpret federal, state, and local employment laws, advising stakeholders on policy changes
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver employment law training
  • Draft, review, and update employment-related policies and agreements
  • Participate in special projects as assigned by leadership

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active bar membership in at least one U.S. jurisdiction, in good standing
  • Minimum of 5 years of legal experience focused on employment law
  • In-house corporate employment law experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws including ADA, Title VII, and FLSA

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with leave statutes and employee relations
  • Experience managing outside counsel
  • Knowledge of accommodations and leave programs
  • Proficiency with legal research tools such as LexisNexis or Westlaw
  • Familiarity with case management software (e.g., Clio, MyCase)
  • Comfortable using collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams and Zoom for communication in a hybrid work environment
