Overview
The organization is seeking an experienced investigator to conduct and/or oversee the most sensitive and complex investigations. Internal investigators assess and investigate reports and allegations of potential violations of the organization’s Code of Ethics and Principles of Conduct, compliance policies and procedures, and applicable laws and regulations, including Federal and State healthcare program requirements.
This is a remote role.
Responsibilities
- Independently lead investigations from intake through resolution, including:
- Formulating an investigation strategy
- Conducting interviews
- Reviewing documents and other relevant materials
- Holding stakeholder debriefs
- Serve as a resource and mentor to non-attorney investigators, providing guidance on legal standards, documentation, and case handling
- Ensure compliance and ethics inquiries, as well as reports of alleged employee misconduct, are promptly assessed, responded to, thoroughly and timely investigated, and resolved
- Partner with e-discovery and forensic investigators to identify, preserve, and obtain relevant documents and data
- Draft clear, timely reports and communicate findings to legal and business leaders
- Collaborate with HR on employment-related outcomes and disciplinary actions
- In collaboration with partners in Enterprise Compliance and the relevant business segment:
- Conduct root cause analyses
- Determine whether remedial or corrective actions may be appropriate
- Determine whether matters, findings, and/or conclusions should be disclosed to federal and/or state agencies
- Ensure appropriate policies and procedures, and training and education programs, are adopted as warranted by internal investigation findings
- Evaluate whether findings warrant disclosure to regulatory agencies
- Support a culture of accountability, transparency, and compliance
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA accredited law school
- 5+ years of experience conducting and managing complex internal investigations, preferably in a corporate or publicly traded environment
- Strong knowledge of laws and regulations applicable to healthcare or other regulated businesses
- Experience investigating business integrity matters, including:
- Conflicts of interest
- Code of conduct violations
- Employee misconduct
- Fraud
- Ethical concerns
- Retaliation allegations
- Other sensitive workplace disputes
- Excellent interviewing, analytical, and written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to evaluate complex issues, exercise sound judgment, and make practical recommendations to senior leaders
- Demonstrated commitment to integrity, compliance, and ethical decision-making
Remote Requirements
If working at home occasionally or permanently, internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
Compensation & Benefits
- Anticipated annual salary: 132,700 - 221,100 USD / yearly (depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location)
