Overview

This role involves supporting and scaling the framework for global commercial transactions and go-to-market efforts within a Commercial Legal (Revenue) team. The focus is on structuring, drafting, and negotiating commercial and strategic partnership agreements related to financial and technology products and services, while navigating complex regulatory environments. The position serves as a key legal advisor to fast-growing sales, partnerships, and merchant success teams.

Responsibilities

  • Structure, draft, negotiate, and review a broad range of global commercial agreements, including complex and novel contracts
  • Provide strategic and legal advice to cross-functional teams such as sales, product, finance, tax, customer operations, and risk
  • Lead or participate in projects aimed at improving internal processes and increasing the efficiency and scalability of the Commercial Legal team
  • Train and educate internal business partners on legal matters
  • Manage and resolve legal issues arising from existing domestic and international commercial relationships
  • Develop and improve templates for global revenue-generating commercial agreements
  • Build collaborative and effective working relationships with teams across the U.S. and internationally

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Current membership in good standing of the bar in at least one U.S. state
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in complex commercial drafting and negotiation, preferably involving revenue-generating contracts
  • Experience in both in-house and law firm environments is a plus
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to organize, prioritize, and remain composed under pressure
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent deals with tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality work
  • Excellent judgment and ability to make timely, pragmatic, business-focused decisions in ambiguous situations
  • Strong work ethic, ownership, accountability, and proactive approach
  • Experience drafting and negotiating data privacy terms, including CCPA, GLBA, and GDPR contract provisions
  • Clear and concise communication skills for effective collaboration and negotiation with internal and external teams
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced, high-growth environment and eagerness to learn
  • Humility, integrity, and a sense of humor

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay Grade: M
  • Equity Grade: 6
  • Base salary range (per year):
    • $180,000 - $230,000 for CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT
    • $160,000 - $210,000 for all other U.S. states

Location

This is a remote-first position with flexibility to work from almost anywhere within the country of employment. Some roles may require occasional work from an assigned office depending on job responsibilities.
