Overview

This role is part of a Legal, Compliance, and Public Affairs team dedicated to supporting the scaling and innovation of financial products. The team provides legal, compliance, and policy guidance to support growth, product development, and trust-building across the business ecosystem.

The Commercial Legal (Revenue) team focuses on structuring, drafting, and negotiating commercial and strategic partnerships globally, involving financial and technology products and services while navigating complex regulations. This position serves as a key legal advisor to sales, partnerships, and merchant success teams.

Responsibilities

  • Structure, draft, negotiate, and review a wide range of global commercial agreements, including complex and novel contracts
  • Provide strategic and legal advice to cross-functional teams such as sales, product, finance, tax, customer operations, and risk
  • Lead or participate in projects to improve internal processes and enhance the efficiency and scalability of the Commercial Legal team
  • Train and educate internal business partners on legal matters
  • Manage and resolve legal issues arising from existing domestic and international commercial relationships
  • Develop and improve templates for global revenue-generating commercial agreements
  • Build collaborative and effective working relationships with teams across the U.S. and internationally

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Current member in good standing of the bar in at least one U.S. state
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in complex commercial drafting and negotiation, preferably involving revenue-generating contracts
  • Prior experience in-house and/or at a law firm is a plus
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to organize, prioritize, and remain composed under pressure
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent deals on tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality work
  • Excellent judgment and ability to make timely, pragmatic, business-focused decisions in ambiguous situations
  • Strong work ethic, ownership mentality, accountability, and proactive approach
  • Experience drafting and negotiating data privacy terms, including CCPA, GLBA, and GDPR contract provisions
  • Clear and concise communication skills for effective collaboration and negotiation with internal and external stakeholders
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced, high-growth environment and eagerness to learn
  • Personal qualities of humility, integrity, and a sense of humor

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay Grade: M
  • Equity Grade: 6
  • Base salary range for select U.S. states (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT): $185,000 - $245,000 per year
  • Base salary range for all other U.S. states: $164,000 - $224,000 per year
  • Base pay is part of a total compensation package that may include equity awards, monthly stipends for health, wellness, and technology spending, and benefits

Location

  • This is a remote-first position within the United States
  • Employees can work from almost anywhere within their country of employment
