Overview
This role involves providing legal support and strategic advice for global commercial transactions and go-to-market efforts within a fast-growing financial technology environment. The position focuses on structuring, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of complex commercial agreements, including partnerships involving financial and technology products and services, while navigating regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Structure, draft, negotiate, and review diverse global commercial agreements, including complex and novel contracts
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as sales, product, finance, tax, customer operations, and risk to provide strategic and legal guidance
- Lead or participate in initiatives to improve internal processes and enhance the efficiency and scalability of the commercial legal function
- Train and educate internal business partners on relevant legal matters
- Manage and resolve legal issues arising from existing domestic and international commercial relationships
- Develop and refine templates for global revenue-generating commercial agreements
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with teams across the U.S. and internationally
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Current membership in good standing of the bar in at least one U.S. state
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in complex commercial drafting and negotiation, preferably involving revenue-generating contracts
- Prior experience in-house and/or at a law firm is a plus
- Strong project management skills with the ability to organize, prioritize, and perform under pressure
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent deals with tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality work
- Excellent judgment and ability to make timely, pragmatic, business-focused decisions in ambiguous situations
- Strong work ethic, ownership mentality, accountability, and proactive approach
- Experience drafting and negotiating data privacy terms, including CCPA, GLBA, and GDPR contract provisions
- Clear and concise communication skills for effective collaboration and negotiation with internal and external stakeholders

Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Grade: M
- Equity Grade: 6
- Base salary range for U.S. employees in CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT: $185,000 - $245,000 per year
- Base salary range for U.S. employees in other states: $164,000 - $224,000 per year

- This is a remote-first position within the United States
