Overview

This role involves providing legal support and strategic advice for global commercial transactions and go-to-market efforts within a fast-growing financial technology environment. The position focuses on structuring, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of complex commercial agreements, including revenue-generating contracts, while navigating regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Structure, draft, negotiate, and review diverse global commercial agreements, including complex and novel contracts
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams such as sales, product, finance, tax, customer operations, and risk to provide strategic and legal guidance
  • Lead or participate in initiatives to improve internal processes and enhance the efficiency and scalability of the commercial legal function
  • Train and educate internal business partners on relevant legal matters
  • Manage and resolve legal issues arising from existing domestic and international commercial relationships
  • Develop and refine templates for global revenue-generating commercial agreements
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with teams across the U.S. and internationally

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Current membership in good standing of the bar in at least one U.S. state
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in complex commercial drafting and negotiation, preferably involving revenue-generating contracts
  • Prior experience in-house and/or at a law firm is a plus
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to organize, prioritize, and perform under pressure
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent deals with tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality work
  • Excellent judgment and ability to make timely, pragmatic, business-focused decisions in ambiguous situations
  • Strong work ethic, ownership mentality, accountability, and proactive approach
  • Experience drafting and negotiating data privacy terms, including CCPA, GLBA, and GDPR contract provisions
  • Clear and concise communication skills for effective collaboration and negotiation with internal and external stakeholders
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced, high-growth environment and eagerness to learn
  • Professional integrity, humility, and a sense of humor

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay Grade: M
  • Equity Grade: 6
  • Base salary range for select U.S. states (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT): $185,000 - $245,000 per year
  • Base salary range for all other U.S. states: $164,000 - $224,000 per year

Location

This is a remote-first position within the United States. Employees may work from almost anywhere within their country of employment. Some roles may require occasional presence at an assigned office depending on job responsibilities.
