Overview
This role is part of a Legal, Compliance, and Public Affairs team that supports scaling, innovation, and product development for consumers, merchants, and partners. The team combines legal, compliance, and policy expertise to guide growth, shape products, and build trust across the ecosystem.
The Commercial Legal (Revenue) team focuses on structuring, drafting, and negotiating commercial and strategic partnerships involving financial and technology products and services globally, while navigating complex regulations. This position serves as a key advisor to sales, partnerships, and merchant success teams.
Responsibilities
- Structure, draft, negotiate, and review a broad range of global commercial agreements, including complex and novel contracts
- Provide strategic and legal advice to cross-functional teams such as sales, product, finance, tax, customer operations, and risk
- Lead or participate in projects to improve internal processes and increase efficiency and scalability of the Commercial Legal team
- Train and educate internal business partners on legal matters
- Manage and resolve legal issues arising in domestic and international commercial relationships
- Develop and improve templates for global revenue-generating commercial agreements
- Build collaborative and effective working relationships with teams in the U.S. and internationally
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Current member in good standing of the bar in at least one U.S. state
- Minimum 5 years of experience in complex commercial drafting and negotiation, ideally with revenue-generating contracts
- Prior in-house and law firm experience is a plus
- Strong project management skills with the ability to organize, prioritize, and remain composed under pressure
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent deals on tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality work
- Excellent judgment and ability to make timely, pragmatic, business-focused decisions in ambiguous situations
- Strong work ethic, ownership, accountability, and proactive approach
- Experience drafting and negotiating data privacy terms, including CCPA, GLBA, and GDPR contract provisions
- Clear and concise communication skills for collaboration and negotiation with internal and external teams
- Adaptability to a fast-paced, high-growth environment and enthusiasm for learning

Compensation & Benefits
- Pay Grade: M
- Equity Grade: 6
- Base pay range for CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT: $185,000 - $245,000 per year
- Base pay range for all other U.S. states: $164,000 - $224,000 per year

- This is a remote-first position within the United States
- Employees can work almost anywhere within their country of employment
