Overview

A growing technology-driven financial services organization is seeking a transactional attorney to join their Vendor Legal team. This role involves negotiating and managing a high volume of vendor agreements across various categories including technology services, cloud services, SaaS, data platforms, marketing, leasing, and payment processing. The attorney will also design and improve legal processes, playbooks, and templates to increase efficiency and support scaling.

Responsibilities

  • Lead negotiation, drafting, and execution of diverse vendor contracts with speed and sound judgment.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve contract playbooks, templates, negotiation guides, and workflows to reduce cycle time without compromising quality.
  • Collaborate closely with Procurement, Financial Partners, Engineering, Product, Finance, Information Security, Privacy, and other teams to provide clear and practical legal guidance.
  • Serve as a proactive, strategic business partner to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Develop and deliver training and resources to empower business partners to self-serve on routine commercial legal matters, increasing team capacity and reducing bottlenecks.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant transactional legal experience, preferably in-house at a technology company or within a technology practice group at a top law firm.
  • Exceptional contract drafting skills.
  • Experience in fintech, payments, or financial services sectors.
  • Experience supporting global or multi-jurisdictional transactions (e.g., Canada, US, UK/EU, Australia).
  • Strong working knowledge of data protection and privacy laws such as CCPA, GDPR, APPs, PIPEDA, and GLBA.
  • Proven ability to manage a high volume of deals while maintaining quality, consistency, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated track record of building or improving legal processes, playbooks, templates, or operational tools in a high-growth environment.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, capable of distilling complex legal and commercial issues into plain language.
  • Collaborative working style with experience guiding cross-functional teams toward practical, win-win outcomes.
  • Intellectual curiosity and creative problem-solving skills; ability to quickly learn new products and business models.
  • Proactive, self-starter mentality with a bias for action.
  • Excellent judgment and ability to make timely, pragmatic, business-focused decisions in ambiguous situations.
  • Humility, integrity, and a sense of humor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with multi-jurisdictional vendor agreements.
  • Familiarity with fintech and payment industry regulations.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base pay grade: M
  • Equity grade: 6
  • Base salary range for select U.S. states (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT): $185,000 - $245,000 per year
  • Base salary range for all other U.S. states: $164,000 - $224,000 per year
  • Total compensation package may include equity awards, monthly stipends for health, wellness, and technology spending, and benefits.

Location

  • This is a remote-first position within the United States.
  • Employees can work from almost anywhere within their country of employment.
