Overview

A technology-driven financial services organization is seeking a transactional attorney to join their Vendor Legal team. This role involves negotiating a wide range of vendor agreements and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support business growth and operational efficiency. The ideal candidate is pragmatic, solutions-oriented, and experienced in managing high deal volumes in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead negotiation, drafting, and execution of vendor agreements including technology services, cloud services, SaaS, data platforms, contractor, marketing/creative, lease, and payment processing contracts.
  • Manage a high volume of deals efficiently while exercising sound judgment.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve playbooks, contract templates, negotiation guides, and workflows to increase team efficiency and reduce cycle times.
  • Collaborate closely with procurement, financial partnerships, engineering, product, finance, information security, privacy, and other teams to provide clear and practical legal guidance.
  • Serve as a proactive, strategic business partner to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Develop and deliver training and resources to empower business partners to handle routine commercial legal matters independently, increasing team capacity.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant transactional experience, preferably in-house at a technology company or within a technology practice group at a top law firm.
  • Exceptional drafting skills.
  • Experience in fintech, payments, or financial services sectors.
  • Experience supporting global or multi-jurisdictional transactions (e.g., Canada, US, UK/EU, Australia).
  • Strong working knowledge of data protection and privacy laws such as CCPA, GDPR, APPs, PIPEDA, and GLBA.
  • Proven ability to manage a high volume of deals while maintaining quality, consistency, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience building or improving legal processes, playbooks, templates, or operational tools in a high-growth environment.
  • Clear and concise communication skills with the ability to simplify complex legal and commercial issues.
  • Collaborative working style with experience guiding cross-functional teams toward practical, mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Intellectual curiosity and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive, self-starter mentality with a bias for action.
  • Excellent judgment and ability to make timely, pragmatic, business-focused decisions in ambiguous situations.
  • Humility, integrity, and a sense of humor.

Preferred Qualifications

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base pay grade: M
  • Equity grade: 6
  • Base salary range for select U.S. states (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT): $185,000 - $245,000 per year
  • Base salary range for all other U.S. states: $164,000 - $224,000 per year
  • Total compensation package may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness, and technology spending, and benefits.

  • This is a remote-first position within the United States.
